Our Story
UMMI was founded upon the principle of “Seafarers First.”
For the pioneering operations of UMMI, aside from being the Chief Executive and Operations Officer of the Company, Capt. Victor M. Villanueva, acted as the Liaison Officer to the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) and other regulatory agencies of the government. Through his efforts, the Company was registered with the SEC on March 29, 2009 and granted a license to operate on June 22, 2009. On the same day, UMMI had its first vessel accredited and enrolled, and the employment contracts of the first batch of crew were processed accordingly, all in a day’s work.
UMMI forged ahead with only one vessel and twenty-one crew members in pool. Through the expert piloting skills of the Board of Directors, led by the Chairman and Mr. Yuji Hoshiba, in handling the business effectively, UMMI is now providing exceptional manning services to 6 Principals.
